Max

Max

My partner and I adopted Max in March 2017 from the PetSmart Oakville location. Max is an all black cat who was estimated at 4 years old (we’ve since celebrated his birthday!). Max is sweet, playful, curious, shy and energetic.

Max quickly settled into his new home and has brought such joy to our lives. He is my best friend, following me around everywhere I go, cuddling lots and of course doing that weird kneading thing cats do. Max also loves to explore every nook in our home even opening cupboards on his own. Max loves playing with toys and especially likes the crinkle balls. He is so much fun, very entertaining and always there for you when you need a cuddle.

Max was missing most of his teeth when we adopted him due to having feline stomatitis. A few months after Max’s adoption, his vet discovered that there was more inflammation in his gums. The vet recommended removal of the rest of his teeth which we did. Max has since been recovering well. Although he continues to receive monthly check-ups, the inflammation continues to decrease and we hope will be gone soon.

Thank you to all those who took care of Max before we could. Also a big thank you to Ninth Life Cat Rescue for introducing us to Max and allowing us to adopt him. Our lives are all better for it.

Bonnie, adopted from pet smart Oakville

Bonnie, adopted from pet smart Oakville

On December 22,2017 I went to Pet Smart in Oakville to have a visit with the many cats looking for a home. Bonnie, (we renamed her Callie) jumped into my arms from her cage for some snuggles. I knew then that she had to be mine. I adopted her the same day and brought her home. She is the most cuddly and affectionate cat I have ever known. When she is sleepy her favourite place to have a snooze is in your arms, on your lap or snuggled into your neck. She sleeps between us in the bed at night. Sometimes she will share the pillow with you.
She enjoys watching the birds and squirrels through the window all day. She loves to play with all her toys. One in particular makes its way up the stairs for bedtime.
I am so happy that she is so happy in her forever home with us.
Thank you for all that you do for these loving animals.

Pippin is one happy cat!

Pippin is one happy cat!

Pippin (previously Poutine) has settled in just purrrfectly in our home. He is the chattiest cat I’ve ever met, and certainly lets you know that he doesn’t approve of closed doors. He loves to see everyone and be in the same room as you, and boy does he love chasing after toys! He is such a sweet and affectionate boy and seems to enjoy having all the space, attention, toys, and love we’re able to give. Pippin is a treasured member of our family and we so look forward to having him in our lives. Thank you, Ninth Life Cat Rescue!

Week 1 with Ed and Al, formerly Jarr and Earl

Our family has had all kinds of pets over the years, but after our family dog passed on four years ago, we couldn’t bear the quiet void any longer. After searching for the past year for the right fit, my dad found these little guys at the Burlington PetsMart with the intention of adopting only Jarr, but we couldn’t bear to separate these 7-month-old brothers! My sister adopted Jarr, and I adopted Earl. Both were a little evasive and didn’t like being held the few times we met them in the store, and my family was particularly worried about Earl because he was much more nervous than his brother, but I loved him too much to leave him. I knew he’d fair better with his brother around.

Upon awaiting our application to process, we made a list of every set of brothers or BFFs we could think of from fiction we like, and eventually we agreed re-naming Earl (black) as Edward, and Jarr (grey) as Alphonse, after the Elric brothers for their golden eyes. But after bringing them home and seeing how they adjust, their personalities couldn’t be more opposite to their namesakes. Al was immediately very attention-needy, mischievous and curious, claimed my bed for himself but loves to be cuddled. Ed is very shy and skittish, but an absolute purr machine if you approach him quietly and calmly. They’re both adjusting so fast and every time we wake up to find them crammed into the bed they came with, we are so happy we didn’t separate these two. Only one week with us, and a huge difference — and they’re growing so fast!

Marbo aka. Babu (formerly Marbles)

Marbo aka. Babu (formerly Marbles)

Three months have gone by since we adopted Marbles from his long stay at Petsmart Burlington. He now goes by the manly name of Marbo, and the equally manly name of Babu by my boyfriend…
Marbo is such a wonderful, handsome boy! It started out with a little hissing and a bit of swatting as he got adjusted to his new home and learned to trust us but once he was comfortable he totally took over the place! He’s ridiculously playful, LOVES scratching anything cardboard, and is crazy proud of his shoelaces he stole. Between snuggles and chin scratches, and wrestling (boy does he love wrestling), he’s become such a lovable guy. My boyfriend and I are so lucky to have been able to give our Babubabu a loving home after his rough start!!
