Look into my big green eyes...you want to feed me some nice delicious wet cat food don't you? Hi there! My name is Marshall. I am a healthy one year old guy who will do pretty much anything for wet cat food. Dry food is ok but I REALLY, REALLY live for wet cat food! I meow and rub up against you the moment I hear that can open! I will follow you anywhere and jump anywhere just to get my face into that food dish! I can be a little vocal at breakfast and dinner time too if you make me wait, so how about you just don't keep me waiting? I adjust quickly to new people and places and love being petted. I'm not crazy being picked up so a home with adults or older children would suit me best. I am very territorial around other cats, especially when it comes to food, so I would be best as an only cat. I'm not sure how I feel about dogs. They'll probably want to eat my food. I was rescued from the streets by a nice lady who saw me outside in the hot weather dying of thirst and exhausted from the heat. She gave me water and fed me and realized I was starving. She tried to see if I had a home with no success so called around to see who could help me and that’s how I ended up here. I am a worldly guy from being left to live on the street where I never knew where my next meal would come from which is why I love food so much. So to recap, I like food, food & more food. How about we get together to discuss me over a meal? If you are interested in adopting a wonderful guy like me, I am busy dining and mooching at the PetSmart Burlington at 1200 Brant street location or you can fill out an application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

"Star light, star bright First star I see tonight I wish I may, I wish I might Find my forever home tonight" "What are you doing Mystic?" "I'm just wishing on the stars that we find our forever home soon, Rocky. We've been here for a long time now, and as much as I love the volunteers here, I just want to go home." "I know, Mystic. Me too." "Do you think it's because I was so scared and shy when we first came here?" "I think that's probably why, and we really weren't quite ready. But we certainly are ready now. We should tell everyone how far you've come since we first got here. Ya, maybe you used to be really scared and hide, but look at you now! You love to come out and play. And you're playing with toys now. Ok, so you're still shyer than me, but that's ok - you're getting so much better. It's ok that you like to watch for a little while before you jump in and play, at least you're playing now. We should tell everyone how much you love catnip - you make me laugh with how silly you get when you have catnip. It's SO great that you let the volunteers give you pets now. They really do love us." "Yes, you're right Rocky - I have come a long way, haven't I? I should also tell the people that you're my very best friend and you make me feel safe, ever since we met in our foster home. They should probably know that you are very curious and always want to be the first one to investigate what's going on and to play. Oh, but maybe I shouldn't tell them how many of those "Da bird" toys you've destroyed. You're so silly! But it's ok - you have so much fun with them. You're such a goofball - always running around. I'll let them know too that you like to be around people and love getting pets, as long as they move slowly." "Tee hee... ya, I do like to run and play! Why not? We're still kittens - we aren't even one year old yet. We should be running and playing. Do you think our new family will have those Inaba Churu treats? We should tell them how much we love them." "Oh, but remember how scared we were when we were separated that one time? We have to tell the people that we have to go to our new home together. You're my best friend and I don't know what I'd do without you." "Ok Mystic, let's wish on that star together! If we wish hard enough, I know our wish will come true and we will find our new home soon!" Did you say you're looking for the best cats ever? Well, look no further - here we are! My name is Shyla and this is my brother Bullet. We are a little over one year old. I am a very pretty, sweet and gentle lady but a little shy at first. That's how I got my name, Shyla. Get it? I LOVE being petted, getting tummy rubs and I also give love nibbles of appreciation to let you know not to stop. I am fine being picked up and I love playing with feather fliers and mouse toys on strings. Bullet is a lot more confident than I am and warms up to strangers faster than I do. Bullet isn't a fan of being picked up but don't worry, he's all talk and no action. Bullet likes the same things I do, being petted and playing with the string birds and mice. He is also protective when there are other male cats near me so we may be better in a home without other male cats. We are both very curious and once we get settled and get to know you, we want to be involved in everything you do. We have been together our entire lives, play together and depend on one another so need to be adopted together. Our adoptive family surrendered us when the mom's allergies became worse and they had to give us up. It was really sad leaving our home, but as long as we're together, we'll be happy. We're looking forward to meeting our new family and starting our new lives in our forever home. If you are interested in adopting us, we are busy greeting everyone at the PetSmart Burlington at 1200 Brant street location or you can fill out an application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Introducing Foxy! Foxy is an absolutely gorgeous, two year old torbie. Did you notice her beautiful eyes? The orange shaded tip of her tail resembles a fox's brush - hence the name! Foxy is a petite girl, but she loves her food and enjoys playing fetch with her treats. Foxy is as playful as a kitten. Her favourite toy is the laser light - she is fascinated by it and endlessly tries to catch it in her paws. Another one of her favourite toys is the "cat dancer". What cat doesn't love the cat dancer? One of her favourite places to spend time is right by the patio door, where she is on high alert for birds, chipmunks and the endlessly entertaining antics of squirrels. She can spend hours just watching what's going on outside. Foxy is not fond of being picked up and while she shows an affectionate nature, she's not a lap cat. Not yet anyway, but that may change over time in the right home. Foxy grew up with other cats, so it is possible she would be fine with another cat around the same age. Foxy was rescued from a hoarding situation. Unfortunately, she had three litters in less than a year. Such a sad fate for such a young cat. However, she is now spayed and fortunately, will never have to have kittens again. It's now time for this Foxy lady to find her own forever home, with the perfect family who will allow her all the time and patience she needs to settle in. Foxy will probably need a couple of weeks to settle into her new home. Is this home with you? Do you have a nice big window for her to watch the world go by? If so and you would like to meet her, please contact Ninth Life Cat Rescue at (905) 301-3532, email: info@ninthlifecatrescue.org or fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Hi my friends! My name is Charlie. I am eight years old and very affectionate. I just melt my foster mom's heart when I stretch up onto her shoulder and give her lots of kisses in her ear and on the top of her head. Can you give me a little scratch under my chin? Ya, right there - that's the spot. I LOVE having my chin and neck scratched. Do you see how floofy my tail is? My fur is super soft! I get along with everyone! Sure, I may growl and hiss at first, but it's just to warn you that I smell something new and I have to get used to it. But don't worry about me scratching you. Unfortunately, I'm declawed. But that's ok - it doesn't stop me from climbing. I can climb and jump very high! That armoire in my room is no challenge for me. My favourite toy is the laser light and I love catnip, but not too much. I might have a bit of catitude sometimes, but mom taught me "NO" and I learned that no means no. I LOVE to play with the little kittens that come through the foster house, but if I had to live with another cat, it should be non-dominant as I like to be the boss. I have this thing called "diabetes". I think that's why I was surrendered to the rescue. I've been in so many homes, which is kind of sad. I don't think I did anything wrong. I think it's just because people were afraid to deal with the diabetes. I came to live with my current foster mom several months ago, and I have a diabetic friend here too. Foster mom had already learned how to give insulin with my foster friend, so she already knew how to do it by the time I came. I need to have my blood tested and given insulin twice a day, but I'm pretty good about it. Mom gives me a couple of treats (I'm only allowed a couple each time), so that helps. The only food I'm allowed to have is Friskies wet pate. Mom said it's inexpensive and you can get it anywhere. What do you say? Do you have a home for me? I really want to have my own home where I can run around the whole house! Right now I have to share a room because I can't eat the other cats food. Oh how I would love a great, big window where I can bird and squirrel watch all day long! It would be great if my new family has experience with diabetes and giving insulin, but if not, the rescue will put you in contact with resources that will help. If you think you can give me my perfect home, or would like to meet me, please contact Ninth Life Cat Rescue at (905) 301-3532, email: info@ninthlifecatrescue.org or fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Say hello to Kenny! Kenny is a stunningly handsome eight year old Maine Coone cross boy. He's handsome and he knows it! He just loves having his long, flowing fur brushed. Kenny isn't a big fan of toys, but he loves to sit on your lap, or curl up on a blanket and snuggle with you until you both fall asleep. Kenny would love to be the only cat in your house so he can have all the snuggle time, but if he had to share a home, he would be best with a non-dominant cat. Kenny also loves kittens! He has a great time with the kittens that come to visit in his foster home. Kenny is good with kids, but we're not sure how he is with dogs. Kenny originally came to the rescue with his brother when their family decided they couldn't care for them any longer. That was pretty sad for them. Both Kenny and his brother were quickly adopted, but Kenny was returned when he became sick. He was diagnosed shortly after with diabetes. Kenny went to stay in his current foster home, where his foster mom quickly learned how to care for a diabetic cat and has been doing a great job ever since. Kenny does require that his blood be tested twice daily, before each insulin shot. With encouragement from one or two treats (that's the max!), he takes his insulin like a champ. Kenny is on a restricted diet, which is limited to a few flavours of Friskies wet pate food, that is inexpensive and readily available at grocery stores. Because of his dietary restrictions, Kenny cannot have full run of the foster home, for fear he will eat the other cats food. This will have to be closely monitored in his new home. Kenny is ready to find his forever home, where he can be the king of the castle. He would love to have free roam of his entire house, where he can come and go in all rooms. The only thing he asks for is a nice, big window to watch the birds and squirrels outside. Kenny would be best in a home where someone has experience with diabetic cats. But if you are willing to learn, we will put you in contact with resources available to help. If you think you could give Kenny the home that he deserves, or would like to meet him, please contact Ninth Life Cat Rescue at (905) 301-3532, email: info@ninthlifecatrescue.org or fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Do you want to hear the story of the paper bag kitty princess? That's my story! My foster mom named me Lady, because even when I was first rescued and was all dirty from living outside, I would still sit very patiently and try to look pretty (did you notice the blue fleck in my eye?) while they took care of me. Soon, mom discovered that I'm very much of a love bug, so she gave me the nickname "Ladybug" that I like much better. A real lady never tells her age, but I will tell you that I'm not a kitten (foster mom says in human years I'm six). I love affection on my terms, and I'm very serious about catching that mouse on a string - when it suits me. My foster mom has been working with me on being more outgoing, but the princess streak in me wins out and I insist on things happening on my terms. I'm really not a fan of being picked up or rubbed with both hands, but when I have my own home, and my own special person is willing to be patient with me, I will learn to trust because I bet it feels real good to snuggle and be rubbed. For now, though, I love to get love when you sit on the floor with me, or if I'm sitting on the couch. I hang around the kitchen doorway when I'm hungry, and if you come near me and talk to me, I'll give you a head bonk and get head scratches and pets. Then I'll give you this look that tells you I'll love you even more after you feed me. The indoor life is truly the life of luxury! I really love spending time with other kitties, so I need a home with at least one other kitty friend to hang out with when my favourite human isn't home. I've never met a dog before, but I don't think I'd like them so much, so maybe a home without dogs would be best. I'm definitely a very quiet, calm girl, so I don't want to live with any little kids who won't respect my space, so I think older kids (12+) might be okay. I came to the rescue from a colony of cats; they were trying to trap the momma to some kittens, and trapped me by accident. But I showed the lady that I was nice, and she asked the rescue people if they could help me, and that's how I came to my foster mom's house. Mom gave me a bath, and brushed my fur, and gave me lots of yummy food, and I purred and purred, so happy to be inside and loved. But I had a few health issues. All that yummy food that I was now getting, also made my tummy sick. Plus, I kept pulling chunks of my fur out, because my skin was just so itchy! I didn't like to be petted sometimes because of my sore skin. Mom says I am "allergic" to things like chicken and fish, which is sad, because they're so yummy! But now I'm eating "venison" which mom says makes me a lucky kitty. I also had some really bad teeth that were hurting me, so I had all my sore teeth taken out, and now I feel so much better. On top of all of this, the vet discovered that I'm FIV+, which means I get sick more easily than other kitties because my immune system doesn't work properly anymore. Don't worry, though - it doesn't mean I'll live a shorter life or that I can pass it to anyone. Even though FIV can potentially be transmitted between cats, that usually only happens with a deep bite - and I don't have any teeth to bite with! If you'd like to know more about FIV and how you can help me manage it, please talk to our rescue volunteers - they're super smart and know a whole lot! So, that's my story. I love my foster mom and hanging out with everyone here, but I want my own home where I can be spoiled like the proper lady (dare I even say, princess) that I am. Are you a very loving, patient, calm person or couple who is looking for a quiet companion? If you think you could give me the home that I so desperately desire, or would like to meet me, please visit me at Pet Valu Foxcreek or fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Oh hi there! My name is Snokums. You can pronounce it "Shnookums". I'm not even two years old yet but boy, the life I've had so far! But I'll get to that in a bit. For now, I have to tell you that I'm a very shy girl. I'm still getting used to being around people. It's taken me a few months to get used to the volunteers at the adoption centre, but now that I see that they only want what's best for me, I'm learning to trust them more. I've discovered toys! Boy are they ever fun! Who knew? I really like the wand toys - you know the ones that have fun things hanging from them? Oh, and those furry mice things are SO much fun too. I'm so glad the volunteers have been patient with me and gave me my space to get used to being here. I'm even starting to venture out on my own to play. I think they forgive me now if I may have accidentally given them a swat or two in the past. You know what else I love? CATNIP! It's the best thing ever. Do you have any treats? LOVE 'EM!! Did I mention wet food yet? No? Ok - well just so you know, I love my wet food too. You can say I'm a good eater. I like the friendly, calm cats at the adoption centre. I would do best with a friendly cat buddy that doesn't want to wrestle with me, but just hang out - or, a little kitten to hang out with would be neat! I learned a lot by watching the other cats in the adoption centre, so I think it would help me to adjust to my new home faster having a cat friend. So my story is this - I was living in a backyard colony. See my ear tip? I was TNR'd. Do you know that that means? The people thought I was feral, so I was spayed, had my ear tipped and released back into the colony outside. But the lady who fed me outside thought that I was just very shy and not feral, so she brought me to the rescue where I've been getting used to the inside life and learning to trust people ever since. I was brought inside with my brother, but he wasn't nearly as shy as me and he already found his forever home. I have to say, the inside life is MUCH better than the outside life. I'm still very shy and my new family needs to know that. But I have made great progress in the adoption centre that I know I'm ready to find my own forever home. I've been here for a long time now and it's time to move on, know what I mean? So if you can just give me a chance and the time and space to settle in, I know I'll make a great companion. What do you say? If you would like to meet me, please stop by and visit me at Burlington PetSmart on Brant St. or you can fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Silky, soft, and positively stunning this brother and sister duo are one year old babies who start out shy but their love of play and other cats will win your heart. Once Hickory and Duncan get to know and trust you, and their foster mom can attest to this, they are the sweetest pair of love muffins. Hickory will seek you out for snuggles. Duncan loves nothing more than to be with a cat friend and play with feathery wands. When picked up, Duncan does his best ragdoll impersonation, going limp and just hanging off your arm. Rescued from a cat colony in Keswick, these lovely babies were first more comfortable with other cats than people. With time came trust as well as the love of play. Duncan still takes a bit of a back seat to his sister and you can see that his confidence is not quite there by the way he carries his tail down with the cute white tip curled up. You will also notice that little Duncan has a bit of a weepy eye. His tear duct gets blocked and although surgery was done, he will always have a bit of a discharge. Getting him into his own home and out of a cage close to his litter box would help that a lot. Besides, it's just another way to tell him apart from his gorgeous sister. Both Duncan and Hickory would just love to find a forever home where another cat lives to show them the ropes. A mature home with a friendly feline would be just purrfect! My name is Jojo and I am three years young. I am a super sweet, affectionate and cuddly girl. I love to chase my fuzzy toy balls and play with the feather wand. I don't ask for much. Please can I share the bed with you? Oh... and do you have a sunny window... those are my favourite! Well, let's not forget my wet food and treats. A lady has to eat 😉 I love kids!! During my current stay, chilling' in a foster home, my foster mom has found I LOVE the company of gentle kids who want to play with me! See, I had a home recently with the loveliest lady and her 10 year old daughter, I was SO happy. But the lady didn't know she was allergic. She tried for months but it got so bad her health was not good. The lady and the daughter were heartbroken, crying so much. They got to see what a fun and sweet girl I am! If you meet me at the store and don't see this, they will tell you all about me. Just ask the volunteers! I would like to be your one and only pet. What more do you need? Please, I am such a young girl to still not have my forever home and my sunny window. Jojo is back at Etobicoke Petsmart. Go and meet her, but please keep in mind she is not a happy girl in the adoption centre, although the volunteers try to make her stay there the best if can be. Please fill out an application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and we can arrange it! 🙂

Oh hey! Nice to meet you. My name is Missy and I'm 11 years old and looking for my forever home. Don't you think I'm pretty? I think so. I'm a social girl and I just LOVE scratches behind my ears. Do you like my nice, svelte figure? You see, when I arrived, I was very obese. My little legs were having trouble holding up my body. I think my previous family thought the only way to show me love was to feed me. I would have just as much enjoyed a hug or two, but it's ok now. I went into foster care and my foster mom put me on diet and I've lost a lot of weight. Trust me, I'm MUCH happier now. I'm still a wee bit of a chunky monkey and my head might look a bit small for my body - but it's ok - we're still working on getting those last few love pounds off of me and I'm much healthier. There's just more of me to love! I do like to play, and when I eat or play I make the cutest little growling sounds. Don't worry - I'm not angry - they're my happy sounds. I really don't like other cats invading my space, so I'd prefer to be the only pet in your home. A mature home would be best too, as my new owners will have to know how to maintain my diet and be able to lift me. I was surrendered to the rescue when my family said they couldn't take care of my anymore. That's sad, because I am an older gal and needed some help to lose weight. But it's ok. My foster home was great and I know my new home will be great too! Dear nice cat rescue people, I was saying to myself just this morning, "Baby," I said, "Baby, you know what you need? You need a person all your own." So I am writing this note to you, because apparently that's the kind of thing you do - find nice homes for lovable, slightly temperamental kitties who are...I shudder to type this...LAPLESS. That's right: I have no lap to call my own. Could you please find someone to give me theirs? While I love all the attention I'm receiving at the adoption centre, you know what I really need? A home of my own! By myself. No other cats. No dogs. No kids. That's not too much to ask is it? Once I get to know you and have time to learn to trust you, I can be sweet and affectionate. I'm only six years old, curious and love my catnip. I just need some time to adjust to a new home and new people, but that's not so bad, is it? Do you see what I'm reduced to? Cuddling with a STUFFED ANIMAL instead of a warm, breathing, can-opening, treat-dispensing, cat-toy-wielding, real, live human person to call my very own! Nice cat rescue person, you need to fix this problem for me IMMEDIATELY. It's not my fault I ended up here. I was surrendered by my owner because they had a bad time and lost their home. I wasn't allowed to go with them to their temporary home, so they had to let me go. So you see, nice cat rescue person, it's about time I found a home of my own. Now. While l love hanging out with all the nice cat rescue people at the adoption centre, it's time for me to move on. So I would really appreciate it if you can get on it right away. Purrs and head bumps, Baby PS - If you would like to meet me, I'm chillin' at my new foster home, so fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and the great folks at the rescue will arrange for us to meet.

This stunning calico girl is Mavis! Mavis is approximately four years old. A shy, timid girl, Mavis is not much for playing, but she loves her Elmo toy! She is very attached to Elmo and will sleep with him every night. Mavis is looking for a loving person or family who will be extremely patient and who will have time to work with her as she learns to trust humans. Once Mavis gets to know you, she loves her belly rubbed and purrs quietly. Mavis does not like to have her back end touched and while she will not bite, she may hiss or swat as a warning that she needs space. Mavis is FIV+, but please don't let this scare you away from this beautiful girl. FIV+ cats have the same life expectancy as any other cat; they just need to be kept indoors and away from other sick animals due to their slightly weaker immune systems. Mavis would benefit from a quiet home, perhaps a small condo or apartment with a room of her own where she can't hide, as she will need time to adjust. Mavis has made progress in her foster homes since she has been with us, but she will need an experienced adopter who has had experience dealing with feral or semi-feral cats. Mavis came to us as a feral from a small well-managed colony. Mavis gave birth to two litters before she was trapped and spayed. Mavis was the only cat in her colony who would interact with the colony caregiver, and would often sit at the back door and stare inside! Mavis will need a very special home with a family that will allow her the time and patience she needs to get to familiar with her new home and get comfortable with new people. Is that home with you? This girl needs a second chance to live her new life indoors. If you think you could give Mavis the home that she so deserves, or would like to meet her, please contact Ninth Life Cat Rescue at (905) 301-3532, email: info@ninthlifecatrescue.org or fill out an online application: http://ninthlifecatrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/
